When you pay support the mother is suppose to use that support to help support and raise your child. The support you pay is suppose to go towards the child’s needs. These needs can be things like clothes, food, school, and housing. If you are behind on the support payments the judge will not take your visitation away from you. They judge wants you and your children to have time together.
The courts want to see a father and his child spending as much time as they can together. Sometimes it can feel as though the system is working against you instead of for you but remember the courts are only trying to help you. In child custody cases fathers usually have a hard time.
If you have taken a pay cut or you and if the amount of time you have your child has increased you can request and hearing to have the support payments lowered. Be sure to keep your visitation arrangement payments with you after you have gone through a child custody case after your divorce.
These papers will show that you have the legal right to pick your child up at a certain day and time and your ex can not legally stop you. If she is avoiding your calls and not answering your door then you should have the police go to her house with you to pick up your child. Your ex will be forced to hand over your children.
The law states that she must hand the child over to you. If she refuses to give you your child the police officer you brought with you will issue a ticket and she will have to appear in front of a judge. Sometimes judges get upset about mothers ignoring the rules they set in place. This could mean that she will lose custody of the child.
Fathers sometimes feel that paying child support is just a payment that has to be paid every month. Child support is much more than this, it shows that you love your children and want to help support them. If you had not divorced the mother then you would be living together and supporting your child anyway.
It is no different when you get a divorce. You may not be living with your wife and child but you still have to take care of your child. Why stop supporting your children just because you no longer live in the same home? Spend as much time with your child as you can and support your child.
